John 6:35
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
In this verse we are told that with God, we will never be hungry or be thirsty…. But what does that really mean?
“whoever COMES to me will never go hungry”
If we seek for God and come before Him, He will pace food before us. In this context we are not talking about physical food but we are talking in spiritual context. This verse is so powerful because the Lord reminds us that in Him our spirit will never be hungry [He will satisfy our needs according to His will] and as we read further He follows it up with “whoever believes in me will never be thirsty” which is even more powerful….
THIRST: to have a strong desire for something
[to crave, long for, yearn for]
We are promised that IF we believe in Him wholeheartedly and actively, we will no longer thirst after the things that we once desired because our focus has shifted and is now on Him.
Spiritually, we will only long and yearn [a feeling of intense longing for something] after Him.
Thinking about how our flesh craves after worldly things so easily, when we welcome Jesus in, truly make Him the center, and open our hearts to Him you begin to notice that those cravings and desires that once were manifesting within begin to shift from what our flesh wants to what our spirit NEEDS!
In Matthew 5:6 , Jesus says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” When Jesus says those who come to Him will never hunger and those who believe in Him will never thirst, He is saying He will satisfy our hunger and thirst to be made righteous in the sight of God.

With that being said that doesn’t mean that there won’t be resistance from our flesh and that is when you will need to feed yourself with his word.
The book of Matthew 4:4 says:
“Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
You cannot expect for God to fulfill your hunger and thirst if you aren’t indulging in the very thing he provided to strengthen us when we face opposition and when our flesh begins to fight against our spirit. That thing is the book [BIBLE] that’s probably on your shelf collecting dust. Take a moment to ask yourself what source you are drawing from daily. I urge you to pick up His word at least once a day, begin to make quiet time for reading. Start with a verse a day and be diligent in it and I promise when opposition comes, you will face it like never before because there has been a shift in your source.
